Neptune & our Local Coast
An illustrated talk by Rob Rhodes
Many will have heard the NT talk “Coast 2015” covering the Trust’s Neptune campaign in general. As a follow-up, Rob Rhodes will focus on our unique local coast, including one of the greatest successes of the campaign – the build-up over twelve years of the Golden Cap Estate culminating in the acquisition of Golden Cap itself in 1975.
If members are interested, it may be possible to arrange a walk on the Estate. Although Golden Cap is the highest point on the South Coast, the ascent isn’t difficult and the panoramic views from it make the effort worthwhile.
Rob Rhodes has been Countryside Manager for West Dorset for 13 years and has given us many talks including the re-chalking of the Cerne Giant, and the restoration of Hardy’s Monument.
Cost: Members £2.50: Non-NTSDA members £3.00
