Herbs & the History of Medicine
The talk “Herbs & the History of Medicine” came about with the chance meeting of a young BP Engineer who thought modern medicines were the results of synthetics, and an old retired pharmacist.
A humorous rant through historical medicine, the 1680 Pharmacopoeia Londinensis, the Medicinal Act of 1858, and a cornucopia of folk remedies, fanciful and empirical, fanciful yet prophetic.
Essentially a very humorous talk littered with memories of childhood medicines familiar to those of a sensible age.
