Following on from his talk on 16th June, Rob Curtis will take us on a guided tour around Sherborne, lasting approximately 1hr 30 mins.
Starting from Sherborne Abbey, in which two Kings were buried, Rob Curtis a specialist on Sherborne’s history, will lead a gentle walk of the town. Concentrating on its architectural gems and remarkable past from Saxon beginnings, through the famous 15thC riot which quite literally brought the roof down, to World War II bombing, we will also see how some of the Benedictine monastery has been incorporated into the renowned Sherborne Boys’ School and hear about the discovery of a 15thC triptych in the medieval Almshouse.
Few places offer so much delight to the discerning visitor.
