A past Director of Dior, Louis Atkinson was the son of a North-Country cloth manufacturer. He travelled the world working in the fabric and fashion business then spent several years with one of the top London fashion houses and instigated the “shop within a shop” concept.
Head-hunted by Dior in the 1950’s he worked both in London and Paris. He was a major player in setting up the first factory for the manufacture of Dior fabrics in Perugia, Italy, the key element being the purchase of a company with the “know-how” for dyeing various fabrics to the same colour shade.
On retirement he moved to Hampshire where he purchased a small flock of ewes – which now numbers over 3,000.
