For some time the Weymouth & Portland Borough Council had been unable to run their Pavilion complex at a profit and despite local opposition had almost decided to demolish. As a last hope tenders were invited to take over the running and Phil Say’s was accepted. Phil and Julie have agreed to talk to us about the first year-and-a-half at the complex and all the exciting things which have happened, the diverse range of events held and the obstacles which have been overcome! They will then conduct us on a tour of the complex, including those parts not normally seen by the public. This will be followed by tea / coffee and biscuits.
Members to meet in the Pavilion Foyer for the presentation in the theatre. Please note that there is no lift in the building but if members feel unable to undertake the whole tour, volunteers will look after them until they can meet up with their colleagues for refreshments. This promises to be an inspiring afternoon – who can imagine a holiday resort the size of Weymouth not having a theatre? Where would all the young talent learn their trade?
Booking not essential but please advise Organiser at least one week beforehand (by e-mail, if possible) if attending, so the Pavilion can be notified approximately how many to expect.
To book please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Meet at 2.20 pm in Pavilion Foyer
Cost: Members £5.00 Non-members £5.50
