“Dorset from a Drone” by Paul Hoskins of Eagle Vistas.
A drone is an aircraft without a human pilot on board, originally used for missions “too dull, dirty or dangerous” for humans. While they originated mostly for military applications, their use rapidly expanded to commercial, scientific, recreational, agricultural and other applications such as policing, peacekeeping and surveillance of suspected smuggling. However, civilian use of these drones now vastly outnumbers military use, with some estimates putting the total number of drones in the air by 2020 at around 7 million.
Paul’s talk will cover drone technology, different types of drone, safety, the law, regulations, do’s and don’ts, and locations. He will explain the beginnings of his company Eagle Vista, the type of work they undertake and for whom, and what they can be used for,
Paul will also show some footage from different areas, mainly the Jurassic coast, and will have an open question & answer session.
